A red-hot Blues Debbie Bond, together with her musical and life partner "Radiator" Rick, have paid their dues in the Alabama backwoods for over 20 years. With soul, blues, and jazz influences, their story includes performing with many great traditional Alabama blues musicians, such as Johnny Shines, Eddie Kirkland, Willie King, and many more.
Debbie Bond (guitar/vocals) and "Radiator" Rick (keys, keyboard bass, harmonica and vocals) cover a lot of bases. Their southern Alabama roots have influenced Debbie's soulful guitar, vocals and songwriting, while "Radiator's" keyboard and harmonica add a swampy New Orleans edge to their sound.
Newcastle born Paul Rose is without doubt one of the most unique and talented guitarists in the world today. Fundamentally a rock guitarist, his extraordinary playing style touches on blues, country, jazz and folk, blended together into a style that is entirely his own. Never a gig goes by where audience members don’t comment that Paul is the best guitarist they’ve seen and heard.
Oli “Mississippi” MacDonald from London, England speaks quietly but makes music with real gravitas. Mac (as friends call him) is a rising star, having been honoured with a session by Cerys Matthews on her BBC Radio 2 Blues show, championed by Mojo Magazine, and given 3 UK Blues Awards. Both his fellow musicians and many music industry pundits predict big things for MacDonald.
Today is International Men’s Day so we have a special gig for you.
First up we have Ben Tyzak and Guy Tortora bringing together two of the best US imports the UK has. Their amazing harmonies and guitar picking makes for a brilliant start to proceedings…
Then we have the legend that is John Verity and his stunning Band - John Verity began his music career in the early 1960’s, playing guitar in various local groups around his home town of Bradford, Yorkshire, until he was offered a full time gig with a pro band the ‘Richard Kent Style’. Soon gigging – sometimes twice a night, 7 nights a week all across the UK and Europe, the band became tight in the way that only a hard working band can.
